How to Use

  1. Build Your Base: Start with firelighters and kindling to create a hot base fire
  2. Create Hot Embers: Let the kindling burn down to glowing embers
  3. Select Appropriate Logs: Choose smaller logs for starting, larger ones for maintaining
  4. Add Initial Logs: Place 2-3 small to medium logs on the hot ember base
  5. Arrange for Airflow: Position logs with space between them for air circulation
  6. Control Burn Rate: Use your stove's air vents to regulate burning speed and temperature
  7. Build Up Gradually: As logs catch, add larger pieces to build heat
  8. Maintain Your Fire: Add logs as needed, but avoid overloading your stove
  9. For Overnight Burning: Use larger logs and reduce air supply for slower, sustained burning

Always follow your appliance manufacturer's guidelines for fuel loading and operation. Ensure adequate ventilation and never leave fires unattended.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will 60L (36.5KG) of logs last?

For an average wood burning stove used daily, a 60L (36.5KG) bag typically lasts 1-2 weeks, depending on usage patterns and stove efficiency. The large size makes it ideal for regular users who want convenient bulk purchasing without the space requirements of larger quantities.

What does PEFC certification mean?

PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) is an international certification ensuring the wood comes from sustainably managed forests. Choosing PEFC certified logs supports responsible forestry practices and environmental protection.

Are these logs too big for my stove?

Homefire Kiln Dried Handy Logs come in various sizes within the 60L bag, typically ranging from small to medium logs. Most will fit standard wood burners, but if you have a particularly small stove, you may need to split some of the larger pieces. The mixed sizing actually helps create optimal fires.

Can I store these logs outside?

While the logs are delivered dry in a net bag, it's best to store them in a dry place like a shed or garage to maintain their low moisture content. If you must store them outside, keep them covered and off the ground. Once exposed to rain, they'll reabsorb moisture and lose their ready-to-burn advantages.
